1. What do you think we can learn from studying works of art from the past?
I think that we will learn a lot from past art. Peoples work with visual art from the past could teach us a lot about their cultures. It could teach us about the way that they lived their lives. What they did for fun, and it could also tell us story’s; stories that could be about them, stories that are filled with mystery, or stories about everyday life.
2.  Explain the truth of the adage “A picture is worth a thousand words.”
To me I feel like that it will vary from person to person it just depends on what you’re looking at and how you perceive it. For instance one painting may say something to one person, then the next person that looks at it, possibly could see the same thing. But they most likely hear something different from the art work.

4.  What is critical thinking and how is it applied to the study of visual art?
Critical thinking is really taking deep thought in something that is interesting you or a bothering emotionally or mentally, it’s just really evaluating the situation at hand. I think that critical thinking plays a huge role in art. Art can be drawn one dimensional, but it can have I three dimensional meaning to it. That kind of thinking I feel like is more for the artist but, critical thinking is also important with people that observe the art. If you don’t really think about a really let your mind free you will miss out on the artist message to you.
5. Of the arts we will be studying, sculpture, painting. Architecture, photography, film, and fashion, what are you most interested in and why?

I am more interested in film; I just really love a good film. It’s not like I don’t appreciate art I just feel like I get more out of the message from the director through a film. Whether comical, motivational, action packed. I feel like I get more out of a film.

What is the Value of art?

What is the value of art?
To me, the value of art you cannot really put a prize on. I think that the value of art is established by the people who are viewing the art. One pice of art may absoutl move somebody and could be worth the world. But to the next person that same piece of art could mean absolutely nothing, and to them it could be worth no more than the dust in their pocket. I feel like true value of an artwork will increase when the artist is dead. The death of an artist really increases more in money value and in personal value. Because upon the death of the artist, no more work of theirs will be created therefore the value will go up significantly.
